MADISON, Wis. -- The Fan Vote for the 2010 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® is now open, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has announced. Badger fans are invited to cast their vote for Scott Tolzien for the nation's best college quarterback as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org.
In week one, Tolzien completed 15-of-20 passes for 197 yards against UNLV.
An honorable mention All-Big Ten selection by the coaches in 2009, Tolzien started all 13 games under center and led the Big Ten in passing efficiency at 143.0, the third-best mark in school history. His 2,705 passing yards were the second-most in school history for one season, while his 211 completions set a single-season record. In addition, he completed 64.3 percent of his passes to finish second in the conference, 14th in the country and establish the third-best mark in one season at UW.
The 2010 season marks the fourth time in The O'Brien's history that fans have had a say in the voting. The Fan Vote counts as 5 percent during each round of the voting process, and it is combined with the results from the O'Brien National Selection Committee, which is comprised of journalists, broadcasters, commentators and former winners. Fan Vote totals are cleared after each voting round.
The 2010 Winner will be announced on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show airing December 9 on ESPN and will be honored at the 34th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner held at The Fort Worth Club on Feb. 21, 2010 in Fort Worth, Texas.
