MADISON, Wis -- The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department, in conjunction with Oscar Mayer, is pleased to announce Ken Linde of McHenry, Ill., as today's Wisconsin Football Season Ticket Holder of the Game. This season marks Ken's 50th year as a season ticket holder.

Ken, a Madison native, has been a Badgers fan for as long as he can remember. He grew up on nearby Doty Street, and received an undergraduate degree (Communications, 1969) and a graduate degree (Broadcasting & Communications, 1971) from Wisconsin. His father, Carl, who also attended UW for a few years in the late 1920s, took him to see his first Badger game in 1953 against Minnesota.

Used to listening to games on the radio, Ken was ecstatic at his first opportunity to see a game in person. He and his father sat in Section M, and afterwards, due to his father's connection with coach Milt Bruhn, Ken had the opportunity to meet Badger legend Alan Ameche after the game. At that point, Ken says, "That was it. I was hooked."

Before attending UW, Ken wanted to see the games and make extra money as a vendor. He sold soda at Camp Randall from 1961 until 1963. Additionally he helped sell merchandise. From his stand outside the stadium gates he would sell items until kickoff, then enter the stadium and sell soda until midway through the fourth quarter. At that point he would return to his stand and sell his items to fans leaving the game.

Today, Ken spends his game days tailgating on Spring Street with his best friends and his wife, Denise, also a graduate of UW (masters in Nursing, 1976). He has held the same reserved parking spots for the past 37 years. After tailgating he enters Camp Randall and goes to his seats in Section T, the same ones he has had for the past 30 seasons.

During his lifetime as a season ticket holder, Ken has only missed six home games. Badger football has become true passion for Ken, with Camp Randall being a place where he says "one can endure all the passions of life and have your senses bombarded in a way that's unlike any other experience."

The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is pleased to join Oscar Mayer in saluting Ken Linde as this week's Season Ticket Holder of the Game.
