The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department hosted the 2009 Football Training Camp Outing Thursday at Camp Randall Stadium.
The event gave athletic department contributors at the Directors, All-American, Champions and Hall of Fame Club levels the unique opportunity to watch the football team practice in preparation for the upcoming season. Attendees also had an opportunity to meet Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne as well as tour the Buckingham and Varsity Club areas of Camp Randall Stadium.
As practice concluded, the more than 275 donors on hand were shown a highlight video on the stadiums scoreboard. Following the video, head coach Bret Bielema and assistant coaches Paul Chryst and Dave Doeren addressed the crowd to provide an in-depth preview of the team and opponents.
Each year the UW Athletic Department faces the challenge of supporting nearly 800 student-athletes that represent the University of Wisconsin in 23 varsity sports. Events such as the Football Training Camp Outing provide an opportunity to thank those donors that financially support that mission.
