MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin football team is ranked 12th in the preseason Associated Press poll, released on Saturday. That matches its No. 12 ranking in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll. The Badgers are one of four Big Ten teams ranked in the A.P. poll, with three ranked among the top 12.
This is the sixth time since 1994 that UW has been ranked in the top 15 in the A.P. preseason poll. Wisconsin ended last season ranked 16th, finishing the season with a 10-3 record after a victory over Miami in the Champs Sports Bowl.
The other Big Ten teams appearing the A.P. poll are Ohio State (2nd), Iowa (9th) and Penn State (19th).
UW opens its season on Sept. 4 at UNLV.
