MADISON, Wis. -- Getting to Badgers football games just became easier for the bicycling public.
Teaming up with the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, UW Transportation Services is offering a Bicycle Parking Valet Service free for all home football games.
No longer will fans have to sit in traffic or look for parking near Camp Randall Stadium. The free service is located just southeast of the stadium off the Missing Link Bike Path, adjacent to the UW Credit Union branch on Monroe Street. It is open two hours before kickoff and an hour after the conclusion of the game.
Bicyclists simply ride up to the valet, receive a claim ticket, and leave their bike in good hands with valet supervisors.
The program began modestly last year, according to UW Athletics Director of Guest Services Ben Fraser.
“This program was started by popular demand last year, and this year has moved to a more visible location,” Fraser said. “No longer will bicyclists have to lock to trees, poles or find other creative ways of securing their bike. The Bicycle Parking Valet is protected and convenient.”
Operated by volunteers with the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, the secure area uses Saris racks.
With the popularity of biking in Madison and the convenience of nearby bike paths, it is expected the program will attract numerous riders.
