MADISON, Wis. -- First it was USA Today. Then it was Sports Illustrated. And now it's Bleacher Report. It seems that everyone agrees that Badgers game day at Camp Randall Stadium is a must see event.
In September, Madison was declared the winner of a USA Today reader survey to determine "America's Best College Football Town." Madison beat out 15 other finalists including Austin, Texas, Baton Rouge, La., Tuscaloosa, Ala., Columbus, Ohio, and South Bend, Ind.
"The surrounding neighborhoods give game day a cozy feeling, and each Badger home game feels more like a family reunion. When the anthem 'Jump Around' is played between the 3rd and 4th quarters at Camp Randall, this family comes together to form one of college football's loudest, warmest stadium-rattling traditions."
In November it was Sports Illustrated's turn to lavish praise on the Camp Randall atmosphere. Jump Around took on 15 other college football traditions in a March Madness-style bracket voted on by fans. Other traditions included Ohio State's "Dotting The I," Notre Dame's "Play Like A Champion," and "The 12th Man" tradition at Texas A&M.
Last week, Bleacher Report wrote, "The stadium itself, Camp Randall, is historic, large and always full, and the Badgers don't lose there often. `Jump Around' is one of the great college football traditions and definitely an experience that contributes in a big way to the experience at the game ... you would be hard pressed to find a better college town anywhere in the country."
There are just seven opportunities to experience what everyone is raving about. It all starts on Aug. 31 vs. UMass. And there are many great ways to be part of the nation's best college game day.
