MADISON, Wis. -- Senior offensive lineman Gabe Carimi has been named a preseason second-team All-American by The Kickoff. In addition, the Wisconsin football team is ranked at No. 18 in the publication's preseason Top 25.

Carimi, who was also named first-team All-American by Lindy's and Athlon Sports and second-team All-American by Phil Steele, started all 13 games at left tackle last season for Wisconsin, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors in the process. For his career, Carimi has started 36 games since taking over for former Outland Trophy Winner Joe Thomas.

In previewing the team, The Kickoff wrote, "Bret Bielema is very excited about this squad and who would blame him? With All-Big Ten RB John Clay back and QB Scott Tolzien and seven other starters back on offense, the Badgers should be a tough opponent for anyone but there will be some inexperience on the defensive side of the ball."

The Badgers open the season on Sept. 4 at UNLV in a game that airs live on Versus at 10 p.m. (CT).
