STAR OF THE GAME
This award could go a few different ways, but Sam Dekker earns our Star of the Game honors after leading the 20th-ranked Badgers to a 59-53 win over No. 11 Florida. The sophomore scored a team-high 16 points, going 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-5 from 3-point range.
Dekker's biggest sequence came when Wisconsin needed it most. Trailing 16-4 early on, Dekker jump-started the UW comeback with back-to-back triples. He would score 10 points in the final 11 minutes of the half as the Badgers claimed a 29-26 halftime lead.
When asked after the game how UW dug out of its early deficit, Ben Brust deadpanned, "Sam Dekker."
PLAY OF THE GAME
Traevon Jackson has made a name for himself with clutch shot after clutch shot and you can add another one to his resume. Leading 56-53, Jackson nailed a 16-foot jumper from the elbow with 9.8 seconds remaining to ice the Badgers' win. Jackson finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
"Not sure there is a more clutch player in college hoops than Traevon Jackson," ESPN analyst Dan Dakich said. "We shall see, but he's my preseason pick... huge shot tonight."
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
It was only nine minutes into the game but Dekker's consecutive 3-pointers early on served as the turning point. With Wisconsin trailing 16-4 and shooting just 2-for-9 with five turnovers, UW was looking for a spark and Dekker delivered. The sophomore forward sandwiched back-to-back 3-pointers on passes from Josh Gasser and Traevon Jackson around a Florida turnover to trigger UW's comeback.
STAT OF THE GAME
