• 1994-95 UW-Platteville Tribute
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Already a member of five halls of fame, Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan was a member of another group that was immortalized this past weekend. The 1994-95 UW-Platteville men’s basketball team, including Ryan who served as head coach for that unit, was inducted into the UWP Hall of Fame.
“I think it’s really fitting that the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is inducting teams of note,” Ryan said. “I certainly feel honored to be the coach of a team that’s going in because it means that they accomplished something special and they did it as a unit.”
The 1994-95 Pioneers became the second UW-Platteville team to win a NCAA Division III national championship and the second Division III team to go undefeated. UWP capped off its perfect 31-0 season by beating Manchester College (Ind.), who was coached by now UCLA Bruins head coach, Steve Alford, 69-55.
Ryan led the Pioneers for 15 seasons from 1984-99 and was inducted as an individual into the UW-Platteville Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998. He guided the Division III school to a phenomenal 353-76 (.822) overall record and four national championships.
