MADISON, Wis. -- Three Wisconsin men’s basketball players were honored Monday when the Big Ten announced its end of the year awards. Included among those were seniors Trevon Hughes, who was selected to the second All-Big Ten team by the coaches and the media, and Jason Bohannon, who was added to the third All-Big Ten team by both the coaches and media as well. Junior Jon Leuer received honorable mention All-Big Ten honors by both groups also, despite suffering an injury that placed him on the bench for nine games.

In addition, Hughes was selected for the All-Defensive team by Big Ten coaches and Bohannon was one of ten honorees for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and is now in the running for the Award, to be announced later this year.

Hughes leads the Badgers in scoring (15.4 ppg) and steals (49), ranking among the top 10 in the conference in both categories. Hughes also ranks in the top 10 in the conference in 3-point field goals made and is second on UW in rebounds (4.7) and assists (2.7).

Bohannon leads the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.411) and free throw percentage (.866) along with averaging the most minutes per game (36.5). He ranks in the top five in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage as well as minutes played, and ranks eighth in the Big Ten, just behind Hughes, in 3-point field goals made with 30-65 (2.2 per game). Bohannon’s 13.3 points per game during Big Ten play rank 14th in the conference as well.

Leuer is averaging a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game while contributing a second-best 14.9 points per outing. He was most recently named Big Ten Player of the Week on March 8 after two impressive showings, including a 20-point performance at Illinois last week.
