MADISON, Wis. -- During halftime of the UW men's basketball game vs. Iowa on Wednesday, the University of Wisconsin will join the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches in celebrating 75 years of March Madness.
The NABC has commissioned one-of-a-kind paintings celebrating each of the national championship coaches who led their teams into history. A painting honoring Wisconsin head coach Harold "Bud" Foster and the 1941 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship-winning team will be unveiled Wednesday night.
The UW Athletic Department is pleased to announce that accepting the painting on behalf of Wisconsin Athletics will be Ed Jones, a student-athlete on the 1941 championship team. Presenting the artwork will be world-renowned artist, Opie Otterstad.
The original piece of art will then be auctioned off online and limited edition reproductions will also be made available for purchase on the NCAA website. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the NABC Foundation, which supports TTRR (Ticket to Reading Rewards), the College Basketball Experience (CBE), and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
