TORONTO, Ontario -- The Badgers improved to 2-1 on their 2013 Canadian exhibition tour with an 88-76 win over men’s select team A-Game Hoops Saturday night at the Mattamy Athletic Center in Toronto.

However, game three of the trip provided a challenge unlike the first two.

After splitting a pair of games against Ottawa-area universities Carleton and Ottawa, Wisconsin matched up with a professional roster comprised mostly of Canada natives who play professionally abroad. The result was a collection of stronger, more experienced players than UW had seen earlier this week.

 Fast Facts
• UW never trailed
• Badgers' 12-0 first half run broke game open
George Marshall led UW bench with 9 points

Wisconsin didn’t give up an inch, leading from start to finish as Frank Kaminsky and Ben Brust led three Badgers scoring in double figures. Kaminsky and Brust tallied 17 points apiece while Traevon Jackson added 13.

Sam Dekker – who picked up two quick fouls – played only five minutes during the first half and finished the game with eight points. George Marshall also chipped in nine points off the Wisconsin bench.

An alley-oop from Jackson to Sam Dekker gave the Badgers a 6-5 lead early on and UW never trailed again. A 12-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters was capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Jackson and Brust and pushed UW to a 29-17 lead with 7:42 remaining before halftime.

Another set of back-to-back triples, this time from Marshall and Brust, gave the Badgers a commanding 37-22 lead, which would remain intact at 49-35 at the half.

A-Game Hoops would turn up the tempo on both ends of the floor with a full-court press and fast-break offense and pull within seven at 79-72 with 3:37 left to play. The Badgers lead would remain at seven with 1:23 left to play, but UW connected on 5 of 6 free throws, including 4-for-4 from Dekker, in the final minute to ice the victory.

The Badgers will return to action Sunday evening for a contest again Ryerson University at Mattamy Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game can be viewed live here.

Wisconsin scoring:
Brust-17; Kaminsky-17; Jackson-13; Marshall-9; Dekker-8; Gasser-7; Showalter-6; Dukan-5; Brown-2; Dearring-2; Hayes-2.
