Luke Wainwright begins his second season as Wisconsin's director of basketball operations for the 2011-12 season. A 2009 graduate of UW, Wainwright is in his sixth year with the Badger basketball program, serving as a program assistant for the 2009-10 season.
"Luke has been with our program for several years handling a variety of responsibilities," Bo Ryan said. "He's a Wisconsin alum and is dedicated to helping us succeed. His knowledge of the ins and outs of our program will make him an asset as our director of operations."
Wainwright also spent three seasons as a manager for the Badgers, including the 2008-09 campaign as head manager. He has worked the Wisconsin Boys Basketball Camps for each of the last four summers.
Wainwright graduated from UW-Madison in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in history.
A native of Verona, Wis., Wainwright spent six seasons as an assistant varsity football coach at his alma mater, Verona High School. Wainwright was a two-time first-team all-conference honoree in basketball at Verona and also lettered in football, baseball and golf.
