MADISON, Wis. -- Several members of the Wisconsin women’s basketball team paid a visit to the American Family Children’s Hospital on Oct. 10 in effort to raise the spirits of young patients.
Michala Johnson, Jacki Gulczynski, Morgan Paige, Malayna Johnson, Carly Truesdale, Shannon Malone and Cassie Rochel spent the evening greeting the children in the hospital with warm smiles and conversation. For the children, they got the chance to spend time with the Badgers.

“Having the opportunity to visit the children’s hospital was a great experience for me and my teammates," Paige said. “It’s important to take time out of our schedules to put smiles on children’s faces.”
UW Athletics has a long-standing relationship with the American Family Children’s Hospital. In the past year, 14 different teams have participated in more than 34 visits.
The Badgers open the 2013-14 season on Nov. 3 with an exhibition against Winona State in the Kohl Center. The regular season kicks off at home on Nov. 10 vs. Drake.
