MADISON, Wis. -- Most are familiar with the adage “kids say the darndest things.” Wisconsin defensive lineman Warren Herring found the statement to be true on March 22 when he spoke to a group of preschoolers in Verona, Wis.

The 6-foot-3, 286-pound defensive lineman shocked the 4- and 5-year-olds with his size and captivated them with his insight on dancing, his “good friend” Bucky Badger and Hello Kitty.

After seeing a young girl’s Hello Kitty “Wisconsin” shirt the redshirt junior replied, “I haven’t seen a shirt like that! I need one of those!”

“I had such a great time hanging out with the preschoolers,” said Herring. “They are so full of energy. It was fun answering their questions.”

Herring’s visit was part of Little Blessings Preschool’s “Sports Week.” The visit from the “big Bucky Badger player” was a highlight of the week, said teacher Janelle Heller.

“(Warren) did a wonderful job answering the students’ questions and listening to their stories,” Heller said. “This was something the students will always remember. He now has many little fans who will be cheering for him next fall. Go No. 45!”
