Pair of Badgers swimming at Pan Pacific Championships

MADISON, Wis. -- One current Badger and one former UW standout are set to compete at the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships this week, as Ivy Martin and Michael Weiss will represent Team USA and compete among some of the world's finest in Gold Coast, Australia.

The Pan Pacific Championships feature over 300 of the world's top swimmers from several countries that border the Pacific, including Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada and the United States. Other countries included as part of the competition are Brazil and South Africa.

Martin will swim in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle, as well as the 100-meter butterfly.

Weiss is listed in the psych sheets for the 200- and 400-meter freestyle, in addition to the 200- and 400-meter individual medley.

The Pan-Pacific Championships begin on Aug. 21 and run through Aug. 25. Preliminaries begin 7 p.m. CT each day, while finals take place at 4 a.m. CT.
