MADISON, Wis. -- After earning five first-place finishes at the Big Ten Triple Duals, University of Wisconsin junior Ivy Martin earned the Big Ten’s Swimmer of the Week honor, the conference announced Tuesday.
Martin earned top finishes in two individual events as well as three relay races. The Madison, Wis. native placed first in both the 50-yard (22.49) and 100-yard freestyle (49.31) races, earning NCAA provisional standards in each respective event.
She also guided the 200-yard medley (1:40.73), 200-yard freestyle (1:30.90) and 400-yard freestyle (3:21.24) relays to victory.
This is Martin’s fifth career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honor and third of the season. In a season during which she earned NCAA All-America and first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2012-13, Martin also earned a pair of weekly conference awards.
The Badgers will travel to Milwaukee on Fri., Feb. 7 and Green Bay on Sat. Feb. 8 to compete in dual meets against the in-state rivals. Friday’s competition begins at 3 p.m. C.T. in the Klotsche Natatorium.
