MADISON, Wis. -- The UW Athletic Luncheon Series Nov. 16 at Union South featured head football coach Bret Bielema, Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez, Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith, and former Wisconsin running back Terrell Fletcher.
Alvarez and Smith talked about a number of topics related to the ever-changing landscape of college athletics. With new facilities being built at both institutions, both expressed the importance of maintaining current facilities and constructing new ones to give the student-athletes the best experience possible.
Fletcher gave an energetic and memorable speech upon his first visit back to Madison for some time. Fletcher, a pastor is San Diego, talked about his time in Madison, and his life journey since his playing days. He remarked that in his travels he meets people in the Wisconsin family everywhere he goes. Fletcher said, “The hands of Wisconsin stretch literally across the globe!”
Coach Bielema spoke about the football match up and the developing rivalry with Ohio State. Bielema touched on the senior class and how much fun it has been to coach them. “They have been a fun group to be around”, Bielema remarked.
In addition to making a remarkable difference in the lives of Badger student-athletes, donors to Wisconsin Athletics are offered unique benefit opportunities, including invitations to special events like the Athletic Luncheon Series.
