MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department announced a new community relations platform titled “Badgers Give Back” on Monday in an effort to better serve its fans and the greater Madison community.

The platform includes new processes for requesting student-athlete appearances and in-kind donations. Community organizations can now make requests via online forms found on the new “Badgers Give Back” page of UWBadgers.com.

Kayla Gross will serve as the Badgers’ Community Relations Coordinator and oversee all of the community relations efforts of the department. Working out of UW’s Marketing and Promotions department, she will be assisted by Joe Thompson, who is responsible for all in-kind donation requests.

“Our student-athletes and staff are very active in our community and we saw this as an opportunity to become not only more organized with our efforts, but also to tell our story and better engage with community partners,” UW Associate Athletic Director for External Relations Justin Doherty said. “We’re excited to begin this new initiative.”

Wisconsin student-athletes have a long history of giving back to the community. Last year, UW student-athletes engaged in more than 3,650 hours of community service at more than 100 events benefiting Wisconsin schools, charities and organizations.

For more information about the “Badgers Give Back” platform, please visit the “About Us” section on the “Badgers Give Back” page, or contact Community Relations Coordinator Kayla Gross.
