The 8K run starts at 10:00 a.m. CT from the Capitol Square (Pinckney Street and East Washington) while the 2-mile walk simultaneously begins at the intersection of State Street and Mifflin. This annual harbinger of spring is anticipated to have over 20,000 entrants this year and may set a new record. The race finish is near the 50-yard line of Camp Randall Stadium.
Early registration is $23 for walkers, and $30 for the run. Early registration ends April 7th. Late registration is $30 for the walk and the run is $37 (April 8-23). Walk-up registration (Friday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday, April 27 from 7-9 a.m.) is $50 for the run and $30 for the walk. Registration includes the famous Crazylegs T-shirt and racing bib with timing chip. For more registration details click here.
Race day shuttles and parking information can all be found at crazylegsclassic.com. In addition to the Kohl Center, the two Best Buy stores located on the west and east side of Madison will once again be additional locations available to pick up your Crazylegs T-shirt and race bib! At the time of registration, you will choose your pick-up location.
The Crazylegs Classic post-race festival is a long- time favorite of the hard-core runner and fun-seeker alike. Race participants are replenished with free fruit and bottled water, while complimentary beer and the UW Marching Band's legendary 5th Quarter performance provide that unique Wisconsin flavor. The festivities also feature live music from one of Chicago’s top cover bands, Spoken Four.
The Crazylegs Classic welcomes friends, families, fans, and spectators of Crazylegs participants to watch the race finish. Spectators can gain access to Camp Randall Stadium to view the race finish and take part in the post-race festivities. Please follow appropriate signs for non-participants. Spectators are not allowed on the Camp Randall field, so please plan your post-race meetings accordingly. Pre-determine a section and row. (Ex. sections A-K, rows 1-50)
The race is named in honor of the legendary Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch. Elroy, the native son of Wausau, Wis., who won All-American honors as a collegian and NFL Hall of Fame designation before becoming athletic director at the University of Wisconsin. The event has raised over $5 million to support UW athletics, underwriting scholarships for men and women student-athletes in all sports.
