ATLANTA - Wisconsin got a chance to even the series against Louisville after replaying them this morning. However, the Badgers fell short for the second time this weekend, losing 2-1.
The first inning provided a quick spark as Katie Keller singled to start the day once again. With that and a few fielder's choice decisions, the Badgers were in scoring position. Skylar Sirdashney capitalized on that as she singled to left field to score Eden Dempsey and go up, 1-0.
However, that lead did not last long as the Cardinals responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the first to tie things up, 1-1.
Paytn Monticelli got the nod on the mound for the second straight day and kept the game close, giving up just three hits; one earned run, a walk, and three strikeouts in three innings of work. The Badgers tallied five hits with Sirdashney leading the way with a 3-for-3 performance. Peyton Bannon also had a single to add to her stat line.Â
In the top of the seventh, Wisconsin had some early momentum with a leadoff hit by pitch, but the early spark was put out early with a Cardinal double play the next at-bat.
An out away from forcing the game into extra innings, Lousiville rallied with two outs and secured the win when Eaton Lotus hit a double down the left field line, scoring Vanessa Miller from second.
