Reigning Big Ten champions look to build on historic season
MADISON, Wis. – The reigning Big Ten champion Wisconsin men's soccer team was ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Badgers are coming off of one of the most historic seasons in school history, advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and clinching the program's first-ever outright Big Ten tournament title.
Wisconsin returns captain Isaac Schlenker, junior starters Robin Olofsson, Mitch Guitar and Noah Leibold, while also welcoming many new faces to the roster this fall.
The Badgers return to Madison on Tuesday for team meetings before starting preseason training over the next two weeks. Wisconsin unofficially opens its season with two exhibition matches against Eastern Illinois on Aug. 14 and UIC on Aug. 18. The season officially begins on the road at Grand Canyon University on Aug. 24.
