Badgers take on four post-season teams in 2018

2018-19 Non-conference Schedule

MADISON, Wis.
– The Wisconsin women's basketball team will play four teams that competed in 2018 post-season tournaments during the 2018-19 non-conference season, head coach Jonathan Tsipis announced on Wednesday.

"We are excited to play a challenging non-conference schedule this season to prepare our team for the rigorous Big Ten Conference season," Tsipis said. "Our home schedule is spread out through November and December so our fans can see all the new faces and many familiar ones as well build towards conference play. With eight new Badgers putting on uniforms for the first time, we look forward to competing at a high level all season.

"With national power Duke coming to the Kohl Center as a part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge as well as neutral site games against Pittsburgh and Arkansas, the non-conference games will allow us to see and compete against many different styles of play. We will continue in-state series with the talented Green Bay and Milwaukee programs on their respective campuses."

The Badgers open the season at home against Winthrop on Nov. 8 before traveling to in-state rival Milwaukee on Nov. 13. The Panthers were 21-12 last season, advancing to the second round of the WNIT. Wisconsin returns home for two straight games, including a match up against IUPUI on Nov. 19. The Jaguars were 22-10 in 2017-18, losing in the first round of the WNIT.

Wisconsin spends the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, competing in the Challenge in the Music City in Nashville. The Badgers take on Pittsburgh, Tennessee State and Arkansas in the tournament on Nov. 23-25.

UW hosts Duke, a 2018 NCAA Sweet 16 team, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Nov. 28 in the Kohl Center. The Blue Devils were 24-9 in 2017-18. Wisconsin also hosts Marshall, Chicago State and Evansville at home and travels to Green Bay during the month of December. The Phoenix were 29-4 last season, losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
