Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year headed to combine ahead of MLS Draft
MADISON, Wis. – Dreams do come true. Senior Chris Mueller signed a senior deal with Major League Soccer last Friday ahead of the MLS SuperDraft. Mueller was one of three college seniors that was signed ahead of the draft on Jan. 19, which will be held in Philadelphia.
Â
"Signing a senior deal really was a huge deal for me. It was one of my goals I set out to reach long before the start of the season, so to accomplish something of that stature really is remarkable," Mueller said. "I'm so thankful for the university and everyone involved who helped me get to where I am today and I'm excited to see what the future holds."
Â
Additionally, TopDrawerSoccer.com ranked Mueller No. 4 on the list of top 50 players available in this year's draft.
Â
Mueller will head to the MLS combine and will be joined by teammate Mark Segbers. The league's annual combine will be held from Jan. 11-17 at Orlando City Stadium with representatives from all 23 MLS clubs scouting the top college prospects.
Â
"This whole process has really been so much fun," Mueller added. "I'm trying to soak in the experience while it lasts because I know it's going to be over before I know it. Going to the combine is going to be an awesome experience and I'm looking forward to competing again with players from all around the country."
