MADISON, Wis. – After an impressive week that included an upset of No. 3 Virginia, the No. 16 Wisconsin women's soccer team clinched a spot in every category of the Big Ten conference's weekly honors on Tuesday, as
Caitlyn Clem,
Dani Rhodes and
Lauren Rice each earned accolades.
Rhodes was named the co-offensive player of the week after a stellar performance on the road last weekend. The sophomore scored the game-winning goal in UW's upset of No. 3 Virginia, which marked the third goal against a top-10 team in her career. Rhodes' winner clinched what was the Badgers' highest-ever ranked win over an opponent. Rhodes also tallied three points in a win against William & Mary on Sunday, recording her third goal of the season and her first assist of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Clem earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying nine saves on the weekend, including three against third-ranked Virginia. Clem had a season-best six stops against William & Mary, which was just two shy of her career high. Clem's shutout of No. 3 Virginia marked the second time in her career that she has earned a clean sheet against a top-10 team. The Michigan native already has four shutouts this year and ranks second in the league with 0.67 shutouts per game.
Rice, who earned Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors, had a dominant performance against William & Mary, scoring the first two goals of her career. The Noblesville, Indiana native also played a key role in UW's upset of Virginia.
Wisconsin (5-1-0) wraps up a three-game road stint at Drake (3-2-0) on Thursday night at 7 p.m. (CT).
