Wellhausen previews UW's series against Mercyhurst

Hey there Badger Fans!

Tomorrow is already GAMEDAY! What a quick turnaround it as been. But do not worry—we have found time to squeeze in some more Mario Kart tournaments amidst practices and homework. I think our skills are becoming more polished, although Bowser's Castle still gives me a bit of a challenge.

Anyway, last weekend the Badgers swept the Lindenwood Lady Lions 3-1 on Friday evening and 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The sophomores were the stars of the show, tallying a collective 10 points in the games. A pair of goals by Presley Norby, along with snipes by Abby Roque, Mekenzie Steffen, Claudia Kepler, Sam Cogan, and Alexis Mauermann pushed the Badgers on top. Goaltender Kristen Campbell earned her first shutout as a Badger in the series as well. Congrats Kristen!

For our Baby Badgers, it was their first official game experience wearing the Cardinal and White. I asked freshman Brette Pettet to reflect on her emotions during her Badger debut.

"Stepping on the ice for the first time was surreal," Pettet said, smiling. "Just to wear the Wisconsin jersey for the first time in front of such an amazing group of fans is something I'll never forget."

We could not be happier to have you, liney!

This week the Badgers prepare to take on yet another out-of-conference matchup, Mercyhurst. Presley Norby discussed her thoughts on the team's performance leading into Thursday night.

"I thought the team did very well for it being our first weekend!" Norby stated. "I think our team can bring a lot of energy, and that is going to help us have success in the future. As we prepare for Mercyhurst, I think we are just preparing by focusing on the things we can get better at day by day, and just getting more comfortable with who we are playing with as the short week goes on before Thursday's game!"

Well said, Presley!

The Badgers take on the Lakers Thursday and Friday evening at 7 p.m. Thursday also happens to be student night and there will even be free pizza! Who doesn't enjoy that? We hope to see you there.

The team will also be wearing special stickers for suicide awareness week to remember those lost who were special to our teammates to keep those names and memories in our hearts as we play.

Once again, on behalf of the Badgers, we thank you, the fans, for making home games such an exciting atmosphere always.

On Wisconsin!
