MADISON, Wis. – Shutting out a challenging Big Ten opponent through 97 minutes of action certainly deserves an award, and that's what Wisconsin women's soccer senior
Caitlyn Clem received Tuesday as the Big Ten Conference named her the Defensive Player of the Week.
Clem held down the Badgers' net for 97 minutes, not allowing a single goal by Minnesota. She recorded four saves and clinched her fifth shutout of the season in the Badgers' 1-0 overtime win over the Golden Gophers.
The Okemos, Michigan native made one big save in the first period and three in the second period, including two that came within two minutes of each other.
The accolade is the second of Clem's career and the second this month.
The Badgers host Michigan State on Thursday in an 8 p.m. contest at the McClimon Complex. The game will be shown live on the Big Ten Network.
