
Women’s basketball adds two walk-ons

Crowley and Miller join Badgers in 2017-18
MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Jonathan Tsipis has announced that Kara Crowley and Lizzie Miller will join the Wisconsin women's basketball team for the 2017-18 season.
"We are excited to add Lizzie Miller and Kara Crowley to our women's basketball program as walk-ons for the 2017-18 season, they are great in-state additions to bolster our roster."" Tsipis said. "Lizzie is a tough guard who led De Pere High School to the state championship game last season. She is a great teammate who embodies all the intangibles we are looking in improving our program"
A 5-7 guard, Miller aided De Pere High School to a runner-up finish at the 2017 Division 1 State Championship and the 2017 Fox River Classic Conference title for coach Jeremy Boileau. She was named the 2017 conference player of the year and the Green Bay Press Gazette player of the year. A first-team all-state honoree, Miller averaged 14.8 points. 3.8 rebounds 2.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Miller, a four-sport athlete, also participated in volleyball, soccer and track. She earned first-team all-conference honors in volleyball and she assisted the Redbirds soccer team to two conference titles. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class.
Miller played with Legends of Wisconsin AAU team for coach Dave Johnson.
"Kara is a versatile wing who finished her high school career helping lead Beaver Dam High School to a Wisconsin state championship and undefeated season. Kara is following in her mom's footsteps (Karen O'Malley) as a member of the Wisconsin women's basketball program "said Tsipis.
The 5-10 Crowley played her freshman through junior seasons at Dodgeville High School in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, before transferring to Beaver Dam High School for her senior season. She was a member of the Beavers' 2017 State Division 2 Championship team for coach Tim Chase, averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. Crowley served as a team captain at Beaver Dam while earning second-team Wisconsin Little Ten all-conference honors. She also scored 1,000 career points as a senior.
While at Dodgeville, Crowley earned first-team all-Southwest Wisconsin conference honors for coach Mark Dooley. She averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds per game as a junior. The Dodgers won three conference titles with Crowley being named a team captain. Crowley also earned all-conference honors in volleyball and softball and earned high academic honors throughout her high school career.
She played AAU basketball for Wisconsin Hoops Select under coach Mike Whitish and the Wisconsin Lakers for coach Mike Elles.
Crowley's, mother Karen (O'Malley) Crowley, played for the Badgers from 1985-87. She led UW in assists and steals in 1986 and in assists in 1987. She averaged 6.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for her career.
