MADISON, Wis. – Three members of the Wisconsin softball team garnered National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region honors, the organization announced on Thursday.
Senior
Chloe Miller collected her third all-region honor, earning a place on the second team alongside junior
Brooke Wyderski. Freshman
Kaitlyn Menz tallied her first all-region honor, taking a place on the third team.
Miller gained her second-consecutive second-team honor and third overall all-region accolade. The Bettendorf, Iowa, native has started all 48 games for the Badgers, primarily behind the plate, and has 49 runs, 61 hits and 43 RBI.
Wyderski has started all 48 games at shortstop with 27 runs, 58 hits and 41 RBI. A transfer from Loyola, Wyderski clinched the first all-region nod of her career. She has led the Badgers in conference play with eight runs, 27 hits and 12 RBI, helping her to a .346
batting average and .449 slugging percentage against Big Ten teams.
Menz, a freshman from Waukee, Iowa, has led the Badgers from the circle all season long. The rookie has a 2.34 ERA with 23 wins in 32 starts. The second-team All-Big Ten honoree has thrown eight complete games this year with seven shutouts.
The Badgers open NCAA tournament action and partake in the Eugene Regional in Oregon this Friday-Sunday, May 19-21.
UW opens against Missouri on May 19 at 8 p.m. CT at Jane Sanders Stadium. The game will be live on ESPN. Oregon, the tournament's No. 3 overall seed, will play UIC in the opposite game of the regional. The four teams compete in a double-elimination format, with the winner advancing to the Super Regional round.
