Details from the dugout:

On how it feels to be back at home:

"It was great to be back, it didn't turn out our way today but I think it was a great learning experience and just a great ballgame. When you play a quality program like Nebraska, you know it's going to be exciting."

On scouting Nebraska coming into this series:

"We know they're physical and they're strong, they know how to win. They're a program that historically, they just do great things. They showed us that fight. We had our chances, which I love. It didn't turn out in our favor today but we had so many opportunities, I really like the way we swung our bats. It was an exciting day."

On the team's execution:

"I think there are some things we could sharpen up on, and we had chances with runners on base too. I like the excitement of our team late in the game, but there were chances early on that we really could've got, really could've made it hurt, and that comes back to bite you a little bit. Overall, I'm pleased that we played hard, there was some excitement, you take Nebraska to extra innings anytime and it's going to be exciting. We've got room to improve, and I think everybody is focused on game two."

On what has been clicking for this group so far this year:

"We've been doing a lot of things well, but I think you see in the Big Ten, you just have to do everything well. You can't make a mistake or people will make you pay. Better to get that learning now than in the conference tournament or in the NCAA Tournament. The good news is, we didn't play great but we're still alive. The season is not over and we still have a chance to win the series."
