Wisconsin Head Coach Greg Gard
Opening Statement:

"As I just talked to the team, the last thing I wrapped up with was, I can't fault the effort because I thought they played extremely hard. Defensively, we did some really good things to be able to be in a position where we obviously gave ourselves a chance to win and defensively to be able to hold Iowa to 20-something below their average what they've been doing. But, we walked such a fine line and we have all year that little details. whether it be turnovers at opportune times or a simple defensive rebound in the last possession, make the big difference. All those little things add up. In the last couple of minutes, they are obviously going to be magnified on the turnovers, three in row, or four in a row, whatever it was there. One on our end of the floor, but there's many things even in the first half that it's an accumulation effect. We dug ourselves in a little bit of a hole and gave up a lead in the first half and then obviously you have to fight back and I'm proud of them for that of how they battled back and there was no quit in them. They kept fighting, but it's obviously a pretty somber locker room. They knew the position they were in and they understand how hard they worked to get back to this point and the effort they put in to that. When it comes down to just a couple of little things or one simple thing, the rebounds are going to get talked about or looked at as a big thing, but there are many things. It's not always one play that has an outcome twist one way or another, but it's a learning experience for them and for us. It's not a pleasant one, but it's a learning experience."

On whether his greater concern is fixing the mistakes or how the loss will affect them moving forward:

"I think probably the mistakes. I think this group will bounce back. They have all year. I have no reason to see and think that they wouldn't now. I'll tell you what, when we do snap out of it, it's going to be a pretty callous group because they've been body-punched and slapped upside the head quite a bit with all of this stuff. Everything that we've had to work through and grow through. So, probably more concerned. Tonight I thought defensively we were really good. We had a couple of breakdowns here and there. We had the one right at the end of the half where Baer got the 3. We're not going to be helping in that position. So there's a few little things, but defensively this was back to where we needed to be. That's a good sign."

Senior Nigel Hayes:
On the final minutes of the game:
"We just couldn't take care of the ball as far as inbounding. I've got to do a better job of getting the ball in and other guys have to do a better job of where we get to the ball and make ourselves available. We just have to do a better job of closing out the game. Hopefully this will prepare us for when the tournament starts and we've got one more on Sunday, so we can learn a lot about being up in the final minutes."

On the team's attitude:
"If you've seen the new movie Get Out, there's a place called the 'sunken place' where they go when they're not really doing much, that's kind of where we're at right now. We're trying to crawl out of it but it's kind of optimistically frustrating to see the losses we've had and the stretch we've been on. We shot ourselves in the foot and from the scouting report we know they're a transition team that can push the ball and they had two fast break points. They love to get points off their 3's and they had eight second chance points so we've got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. We've got to put together a full game and we're too 'spurt-y' if that's a word.

As a team, we have our moments where we're really good and we'll get maybe five minutes and then we'll forget what we're doing for the next five. We've got to focus on putting together a full game and of course that starts with your senior leaders. We've got to do a better job of keeping the guys on track when we're doing well and getting them back when we go off course."

Senior Zak Showalter:
On the first half:
"I thought we came out strong and we jumped out to a lead pretty early, but they made some shots and got back into the game. We just have to finish halves, that's our issue right now. I think we're coming out pretty strong but for some reason we're just not finishing and that's what this team was so good at early in the season, so we'll just have to do better."

On the contributions of Jordan Hill and the bench:
"I thought Jordan Hill was a huge spark plug for us. I thought really he gave us a boost when we needed it and that doesn't always have to be in scoring because the job he did defensively on Jok was really good. Obviously, he got the steal and the bucket. So, I thought our guys off the bench, they're not always going to get the shots. The older guys that have more experience, you can see it's pretty starter-dominated in turns of who gets shots and they grow into that. Those guys when they were young, they didn't get that many shots either, older guys got them. So, I don't get too wound up in turns of bench points. I'm looking at other the intangible contributions and if points come, that's a huge benefit for us and they'll grow into roles as they get older into the program. But, I thought [Jordan] was good for us tonight. For a guy that hasn't gotten a lot of reps with me – he's been playing primarily scout team – to come in in that type of situation and do that kind of job, it's a credit to him."

Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery
On his team's defensive intensity:

"It was for most of the game. It certainly was down the stretch. We had an eight consecutive stop sequence in the first half, a six consecutive stop streak late in the game. That one stretch got away from us a little bit. They went up seven, but I felt we were pretty connected defensively, which you have to be to play this team. [Wisconsin has] got so many different weapons and they run the swing and then they run some things out of it. They get the ball to people where they want it and you just got to really do the best job you can and then go get it. This is a team that is typically plus eight on the glass and we were plus-10 tonight, so that's something that makes us very proud."

On how the full-court press and half-court press changes as they face a team like Wisconsin:
"Well, they're a rhythm team and they got cookin' in the second half. At one timeout, my assistant said they're shooting like 62 percent. So, we went to the three-two zone and that worked a little bit. They're eventually going to solve if you change, they're going to solve and then you got to change again, so we went to the zone and then we went to the press, back to man and then we went to the press. We kept doubling just to try to keep them out of rhythm, because if you let them get in rhythm they're typically going to carve you up. So, I think it helped us there."

Freshman Jordan Bohannon
On if it was extra special getting a game-winner at Wisconsin:
"Yeah, definitely. I can't tell you how many times I've been here a lot of weeknights, traveling here, seeing my brothers play, so this game kind of meant more to me. Especially (since) I was overlooked in the recruiting process. A lot of people doubted me, but Coach McCaffery is one of the ones that believed in my abilities, so this is another game I wanted to prove myself to everyone out there that I can do this at the Big Ten level. I just tried to keep my composure the entire game and I was fortunate enough to make that shot and Nicholas Baer had a huge rebound and had great court awareness to find me and I was able to push it out."

On his exchange with former Badger brother, Zach, before the game:
"I said, 'Go Hawks,' but like I said earlier to a bunch of reporters earlier in the week I was pretty much a Badgers fan my entire life growing up. Lucky enough I was able to find my dream school here at Iowa. But, like I said, I pretty much just said, 'Go Hawks' and we were pretty much a Wisconsin family growing up and this game meant a lot to me for us to get it tonight."
