TEAM NOTES

  • The Badgers improved to 11-3 in Big Ten play to remain in a tie with Purdue for first place in the league standings. 
  • UW won its 22nd game of the season, matching last year's mark and equaling the 12th-highest win total in school history.
  • Wisconsin improved to 14-1 at home this season. The Badgers have won 20 of their last 21 games at the Kohl Center.
  • Over the last four seasons, Wisconsin is 34-10 (.773) in regular-season games in the months of February and March.
  • The Badgers are 7-4 all-time vs. Maryland, including a 3-1 mark in Madison. The teams have split their four meetings since Maryland joined the Big Ten.
  • Greg Gard improved to 37-13 (.740) in 50 games as Wisconsin's head coach. Only Hall of Famer Walter "Doc" Meanwell has posted a better record through 50 games as UW's coach (49-1, 1911-14). 
  • UW is now 22-3 (.880) at the Kohl Center under Gard, including a 4-2 record vs. ranked opponents at home.
  • Wisconsin held Maryland to just 60 points, the Terrapins lowest-total during Big Ten play and their second-lowest of the season.
  • In 50 conference games since joining the Big Ten, Maryland has been held to 60 or fewer points 6 times, 3 of which have come against Wisconsin. The Badgers are the only Big Ten team to hold the Terps to 60 or fewer points over the last two seasons, having done so twice.
  • The Badgers owned a 44-27 rebounding margin, including 18-5 on the offensive glass. UW's +17 margin is its largest in Big Ten play and was Maryland's largest rebounding deficit of the season.
  • UW's 18 rebounds were its second-highest total in conference play (19 at Illinois) and the team's 19 second-chance points matched its second-highest output of the season overall.
  • Wisconsin had 8 total turnovers and just 1 in the second half.
  • UW went 21-for-37 from the free throw line, recording a season high for attempts. The Badgers are 13-0 this season when attempting at least 20 free throws in a game.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Sophomore F Ethan Happ topped 20 points for the second-straight game and the 6th time this season. He also had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks,5 steals and no turnovers.
  • Senior F Nigel Hayes tallied his 4th double-double of the season and 11th of his career with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He reached 20+ points for the 6th time on the year and 18th time of his career.
  • Hayes went 9-for-14 from the free throw line, marking a season high in attempts. He now has 512 made free throws in his career and needs 8 more to tie Alando Tucker for the school's all-time career record.
  • Freshman Brevin Pritzl set career highs in points (7), rebounds (7), offensive rebounds (5) and matched his career high by playing 23 minutes.
