MADISON, Wis. – Double the double-double, double the fun. At least that's what
Marsha Howard thought last week as the Wisconsin women's basketball junior recorded back-to-back double-doubles on Thursday and Saturday to help extend the Badgers' three-game winning streak. Howard was named to this week's Big Ten Conference player of the week honor roll for her performances.
The double-doubles were the first of her career.
Howard had a game-leading 14 points and 15 rebounds on the road in UW's 58-57 win at Pittsburgh on Nov. 29. Just two days later, she put up 13 points and 11 rebounds in front of a home crowd in the Badgers' 71-60 win over La Salle.
For the week, the Chicago native averaged 13.5 points and 13 rebounds per game.
Howard has had double-digit points in the last three games and six total this season. She is averaging 12.4 points per game and has 99 points this season. She has eight-or-more rebounds in six of eight games this year.
The Badgers continue their tough stretch on the road at Marquette tonight at 7 p.m. in the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee.
