Wellhausen previews UW's road series at Cornell
Hey there Badger Fans!
Â
As I write to you I am thousands of miles in the sky, en route to Ithaca, New York, for a series against Cornell. Our latest Netflix binges, like Stranger Things, Grey's Anatomy, This Is Us, and Riverdale decorate computer screens as girls catch up on episodes they've missed. Some exemplify the "student" ideal in "student-athlete" as they fiercely type away at their laptops, tackling homework for the weekend. Other girls blast their perfect travel playlists as a lullaby to a perfect travel nap. I?t is safe to say the Badgers have mastered road trips with the plethora of away series we have had this month.
Â
Last weekend the Badgers defeated Ohio State in a gritty two games, 7-0 Saturday and 3-1 Sunday.
Â
Goals scored by an array of Badgers contributed to our success, particularly a stellar performance by sophomore Alexis Mauermann, who tallied three goals in two games. Her unreal work ethic earned her WCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Congrats Mauey!
Â
I would like to also give a huge shoutout to Kristen Campbell, who remains a brick wall for the Cardinal and White, as she receives multiple honors each week for her defensive efforts. Keep I?t up Soupy!
Â
Rolling with the momentum from the Ohio State battles, the Badgers are eager to take on Cornell in a two game matchup this weekend.
Â
I asked senior assistant captain Lauren Williams on what she feels the team did well against Ohio, and how we must prepare to take on the Big Red of the east coast.
Â
"This past weekend I think we did all of the little things right, from getting pucks in deep to winning one on one battles," Williams said.
Â
"We also came out ready to play Saturday afternoon and was able to establish the tone for the entire weekend. Moving into this weekend we're going to need more of the same and our compete level is going to need to be high for all six periods."
Â
Excellently-stated Lew!
Â
