Rettke honored by Big Ten again

Freshman named Big Ten Player of the Week, Freshman of the Week
MADISON, Wis. – For the second time this season, Dana Rettke, a freshman on the Wisconsin volleyball team, has been named the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The 6-8 middle blocker was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season, including the second week in a row.
Rettke recorded the best back-to-back offensive matches of her career last week. She had a career-high 22 kills at No. 5 Minnesota while adding 14 kills at Maryland. She averaged 5.14 kills per set on the week while hitting .642. Rettke was error-free against the Gophers, hitting .647 (22 kills – 0 errors – 34 attempts) while hitting .632 (14-2-19) at Maryland.
She added eight blocks on the week—four at Maryland and four at Minnesota—to average 1.14 blocks per set.
On the season, Rettke leads the Badgers and ranks second in the Big Ten with a .459 hitting percentage. She also leads the team and ranks 10th in the conference with 3.37 kills per set. The freshman has a team-best 1.42 blocks per set, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten.
No. 9 Wisconsin (14-5, 5-5 B1G) opens the second half of Big Ten play with a road match and a home match this week. The Badgers take on No. 1 Penn State (19-1, 9-1) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. from Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania. The match airs live on the Big Ten Network. UW returns home for a Saturday match vs. Northwestern (12-10, 2-8) from the Field House. First serve is at 7 p.m.
