No matter who's getting the numbers, the Badgers are sharing the credit for a dominant defense
Taking credit is a foreign concept within Wisconsin's defense. Sharing — or even deflecting — credit? There's plenty of that going on among an unselfish unit that has bought in big time to the idea of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. So far, that formula has added up to low point totals and high confidence for a group that clearly is in this together. UWBadgers.com Senior Writer Mike Lucas has more and you can click here to read the feature.
A knee injury ended Chris Orr's season, but that setback hasn't stopped the perpetually-positive linebacker from finding a unique way to make an impact on his teammates — and Wisconsin's coaching staff. UWBadgers.com Insider Andy Baggot has more on the unique, up-beat personality and leadership of Orr. Click here to read the feature.
Lucas also took a closer look at the background of Alex Hornibrook. Come to find out, aiming high is a Hornibrook family trait. Like Alex, his older sister, Mackenzie, is not one to back down from a challenge. A senior team captain on the Penn State swimming team, Mackenzie discusses her relationship with Alex and insight to the new quarterback for the Badgers. Baggot also has his weekly "Badgering" Q&A, and this week gets fans familiar with Wisconsin men's soccer head coach John Trask. Having recently earned his 100th career coaching win, Trask believes he has the makings of an NCAA tournament team sometime in the next two years. Trask also sheds some light on his favorite footwear, his last fistfight and the best advice he's received from a UW coach. Download and/or read Varsity Magazine for this exclusive Q&A.

A member of broadcasting royalty is stepping down this season, as legendary Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play announcer Vin Scully officially retires after this season. Voice of the Badgers Matt Lepay paid his own tribute to Scully and discusses the end of a broadcasting era. Click here to read Lepay's column.
Legendary coach and current UW Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez gives his thoughts on the start to the season by this year's football team. Alvarez believes that intimidation is no factor for these Badgers, who prepare for a challenging stretch in their schedule. "If you want to be one of the big boys, you've got to play the big boys and beat them. And we've been able to do that with wins over two top-10 teams already." Click here to read more from Alvarez.
All that and much more in this week's edition of Varsity Magazine, including Ask the Badgers, In Focus, and individual updates on teams and their respective seasons.
