Coach and player quotes

Junior Midfielder Mike Catalano
On how the team performed:
"It's just tough playing in these kind of conditions, you know the first half wasn't so great after we scored, they kind of had most of the possession. You just have to battle through it, play ugly soccer, that's sometimes what college soccer is. I thought we did that well in the first half, and we did well in the first 15 in the second half to get the second goal, and then we just packed it in. After that we kept playing good soccer and that was it."

On what Chris Mueller brings:
"Me and Chris go way back, he's everything up there."

Head Coach John Trask
On how the team performed
"I think it was great to get a shutout, we've been talking about it. We had a shutout against Santa Clara in our first game, and I know our defense takes a lot of pride in having a shutout, and then Chris' free kick goal was pretty special, that is just something that he brings to the table. Great to see Mike get on the end of a great service, I believe it was one of our subs, Isaac who came in and did a fine job. I was very pleased with the overall performance, and St. Louis is a good team and they've played a lot of top teams in the country. To get a result like this on Tuesday night was fantastic for team spirit and we will move on to the Rutgers match. It was a good night at the office for the team."

On Christopher Mueller's play
"Chris is someone I've always said, he's come into his own. He's got the ability on the free kicks, he hits them all the time in training. If we can get fouls in those moments, he's a guy I've said it he's gone 1-for-2 and scored a beautiful one last year at St. John's, he just missed one the other day at Penn State, and scored a beauty today. We will take it and move on."

On players from St. Louis
"It's absolutely huge. You know Mark and Tommy and Brian and Nick Jones are all from St. Louis. This is a big game for them. Mark and Tommy were named game captains and I thought they played great even though they didn't show up on the score sheet. I know it's a big win, anytime St. Louis kids play against SLU it's a big honor and they take a lot of pride in how they perform so congrats to those guys."

Junior Forward Christopher Mueller
On his goal
"I just put the ball down, closed my eyes and imagined what I was going to do. I saw the goalie was inching over a little bit and usually when I'm on that side I go back the other way, but I saw the goalie over on one side so I just put it to the opposite corner."
