Kendall Shaw joins Badger basketball

Vanderbilt transfer will be immediately eligible to play

MADISON, Wis. – Kendall Shaw, a 6-foot, 4-inch center, has transferred to the Wisconsin women's basketball program from Vanderbilt University, head coach Jonathan Tsipis announced on Monday. The redshirt senior, who graduated from Vanderbilt in May with a degree in child studies and medicine, health and society, will be immediately eligible and have one season remaining.

"We are very excited to have Kendall join the Wisconsin basketball family and continue her basketball career as a Badger," said Tsipis. "She is a highly skilled and experienced post player with a great touch, good hands and a good feel for the game.

"Defensively, she gives us a strong rebounding presence with the ability to block shots. Kendall was an active member of the Vanderbilt community and will provide a great mature presence for our team. She will help us with the great level of post play the Big Ten has to offer."

A native of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Shaw played three seasons at Vanderbilt beginning in 2012-13. She redshirted her second season before playing the next two years. Over her career, the post player saw action in 56 games, starting one. Shaw averaged 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field at Vanderbilt. Shaw has career highs of 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. The Commodores also competed in two NCAA tournaments during her career.

Active off the court, Shaw was twice named to the SEC's Community Service team. She was nominated for the Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works team in 2015-16.

As a prep, Shaw was ranked No. 109 in the country by Blue Star. She averaged 17.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game as a senior. She scored more than 2,200 points, grabbed over 1,300 rebounds and blocked more than 500 shots at Barbers Hill High School.
