Varsity Magazine: Sweet 16 preview

Little things have made a big difference for UW

MADISON, Wis. — The March 23 edition of Varsity Magazine is now available, featuring a complete preview of the Badgers' trip to the Sweet 16, a look back at Bronson Koenig's dramatic buzzer-beater and a touching story of how the team has rallied around assistant coach Lamont Paris.

It's very easy to point to the big shots by Bronson Koenig in the final minutes and see why the Badgers are playing another weekend. But UWBadgers.com Senior Writer Mike Lucas says there are bigger reasons why UW has advanced to its fifth Sweet 16 in the last six years. And they all revolve around doing the little things. Much has been written about Koenig's clutch shot at the buzzer to beat Xavier. Former Badger guard Freddie Owens knows how Koenig feels. UWBadgers.com Insider Andy Baggot tracked down the current Holy Cross assistant coach for his view of the last-second dramatics. Read it HERE.

Even during March Madness, there are reminders that there are things in life that are more important than basketball. Assistant coach Lamonth Paris has been dealing with a difficult medical situation with his mother and is very appreciative of the support he has received from his other 'family.' Read it HERE.

In his weekly column, "The Voice of the Badgers" Matt Lepay writes about what March Madness, and the many memories that are made during this crazy month.

The 'Varsity' Magazine mobile app is free and available for download on iPhones, iPads or any Android devices. If you don't have access to a mobile device, a web-friendly version of the magazine can be found HERE.

The mobile app has been downloaded more than 25,000 times. It features enhancements like embedded video, social media streams for the different Badgers teams, top-notch photography and interactive elements like scrolling text and swipeable photo galleries.
