Wellhausen recaps UW's sweep at MSU and previews the Badgers' first home series in almost a month
Happy Friday Badger Fans!
I hope you had an awesome week, and are ready for some action at LaBahn Arena this weekend!
Last week the Badgers swept Minnesota State in a 3-0 game on Friday and a 3-1 game on Saturday.
Each match was a hard-fought battle. The team faced challenges, as the game was very physical. However, with the help of goals by Sophia Shaver, Sarah Nurse, Jenny Ryan, Mellissa Channell, and two goals from myself, we were able to pull off two victories against the Mavericks!
I asked sophomore Sophia Shaver about the wins.
"Last weekend went really well," Shaver reflected. "Coming home with two wins is always a success, and I think our team learned how to fight through adversity with a couple of difficult games against Mankato."
This weekend the Cardinal and White are finally back on home ice! We are set to play the Bemidji State Beavers in a two-game series Saturday at 2:07 p.m. and Sunday at 1:07 p.m.
"I know everyone is super excited for this weekend, as it is only our second home weekend of the year so far," Shaver said. "We love playing in LaBahn because of our amazing fans!"
In other news, I would like to give a special congratulations to freshman Presley Norby, who was named WCHA Rookie of the month for September and October. The baby Badger has a total of 10 points this year, with one goal, a game winner, and nine assists. She's on fire, and will be fun to watch as the year progresses!
"It's an honor," Presley told me about her recognition. "But I would not have earned the award without my teammates, and especially my linemates. It wouldn't be possible with out them and their hard work too!"
We are all so proud of you Pres! Keep it up.
Speaking of superstars, I have one last shoutout to give to junior Annie Pankowski, as she is out in Finland representing the United States in the Four Nations Cup. It also happens to be her birthday today, and what better way to celebrate than to play against rival Team Canada. Happy birthday Pancake!
We are all behind you, girl! Keep doing you!
We hope to see you all Saturday and Sunday! It will be so exciting finally playing in front of you all again.
