Baylee's Blog: Happy Thanksgiving!

Wellhausen shares her thoughts as the Badgers prepare for a Thanksgiving series with Cornell
Happy Thanksgiving Badger Fans!Â
Â
Since we are all eager to dive into our holiday feasts, I will try to keep this blog short and sweet! (Although with my knack for creating seemingly endless conversations, who knows if I can accomplish the task of making a short blog...bear with me!)Â
Â
Last weekend the Badgers split with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. We experienced our first loss of the season Friday night, falling short to the Bulldogs 4-1. Freshman Maddie Rowe scored the Badger's only goal, and it just so happened to be her first collegiate goal as well.Â
Â
"It was really special scoring my first goal," Maddie said. "I got a few lucky bounces with the puck and it ended up going in the net. My team was super excited for me, and it was surreal scoring my first goal as a Badger!"Â
Â
Congratulations Rowe! We are so proud of you!Â
Â
There is a famous quote that says what defines us in this life we live is how well we rise after we fall. Saturday's game reflected such words, as the Badgers channeled their frustrations into motivation, this time defeating the Bulldogs 4-1, thanks to a goal by senior Jenny Ryan, and an outstanding hat trick by junior Annie Pankowski.Â
Â
Annie's goals were her firsts of the season, and earned her WCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors. You go girl!Â
Â
This weekend the Badgers will take on Cornell in a two-game series back at home in LaBahn Arena. Friday's game will be at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday's game will be at 8:07 p.m. We hope to see you there!Â
Â
With Thanksgiving occurring, and the holidays on the horizon, the atmosphere within the locker room, on ice, and among the team is very happy. Not to mention, Clarky's birthday is coming up pretty soon, too.Â
Â
"There just something different about his week," junior Claudia Kepler noted. "A couple big days are coming up, lots of energy and excitement."Â
Â
In light of Thanksgiving, I would also like to take a moment to give a special thanks to my team. We have been through the toughest trials, and the greatest times together. I am thankful for each of you!
Â
On behalf of the Badgers, we would like to thank our families and friends for all of the support they provide us day-in and day-out, as well as the fans for always cheering us on every weekend!Â
Â
May you all have an awesome holiday! On Wisconsin!Â
