Senior midfielder Micaela Powers
On the assist on the goal
MP: Well I was one versus one in the corner and the girl was all over my back and I was about to turn around and get mad that they didn't call a foul but kind of just spun her. We talked at half time about playing behind their back line on crosses so I slid it back to the PK spot and Emily was there to finish.
Â
On Senior Day and how the team has grown over the past 4 years
MP: Well I think our freshman year we came in and we had a rough fall and that spring we came together as a collective unit and sat down and started talking in the classroom and we fixed a lot of issues we had going on off the field and ever since that reconstruction of the team, it's been on an up and up. We kind of started off this season in a rough patch but I think as the season has gone on we have learned how to play with each other and it has gotten a lot better.
Â
On senior leadership
MP: You never really realize what kind of leadership seniors hold without necessarily being captains. A lot of younger players really look up to you and today was a big realization moment for me when I got a poster with my name on it saying thank you to the seniors. At the bottom of it all the girls signed it and I'm not a captain but the way they talked about how much of a leader and how much they look up to me, makes me realize how much they appreciate your leadership even though you don't necessarily recognize it.

Senior midfielder Rose Lavelle
On how the team has grown since she has been here:
RL: I think our mentality has changed, we've come out working harder than we have in the beginning of the season. I think that's all the difference is the effort that we've been giving.
Â
On stepping on the field for the last time against Rutgers:
RL: It's a little bittersweet. Obviously it's a big game and I'm going to be happy playing it but at the same time I'm really sad it will be my last game. A lot of emotions but hopefully I'll be able to taper it down for the game.
Â
Reflecting on her time at UW:
RL: I guess I'll just say thank you Wisconsin for the best four years of my life and we're not done yet.

Senior goalkeeper Meghan Ledin
On Senior Day:
ML: It's honestly kind of weird. It's good that we won today because I'd probably be a little more upset, I definitely spent a good part of the morning in happy tears but it's nice that we have one more game against Rutgers to go out hopefully on top.
Â
On the team's growth:
ML: We've pretty much been everywhere even though that sounds pretty vague. My freshman year we really struggled and had a lot of problems in general with our playing and off the field issues and everything like that. We kind of went through a transformation over the rest of the time that we've been here and we definitely have a good culture that supports teammates as social beings and as players on the field. I think we really just become something that we can all be proud of.

Senior defender Kylie Schwarz
On Senior Day:
KS: Today it finally hit me, I think. This whole season and playing college soccer for four years, I think my body was just in a zone where it was like another game, another practice and today the freshmen and sophomores all made a big video saying how much they're going to miss us and they wrote us letters. I think that's when it finally hit me and I got pretty emotional and realized that I'm going to miss soccer so much and my teammates so much more and this whole family and this whole program has just been amazing.
Â
On playing Rutgers in the last match:
KS: That feels really weird for me and I can't really wrap my head around that right now but I think it's just going to have to be something that I focus on, the process of being in the moment of that entire warm up to the last minute of the game and just kind of remember that feeling of what it's like to play on that field with my best friends and my family and just kind of take that in and remember that.Â
Â
Senior defender Morgan Taylor
On Senior Day:
MT: It's kind of surreal that after all the years here that it's finally coming to a close. It's also kind of exciting right now because it's not the end really, we have four games left and our season to fight for so I look forward to that.
Â
On the last time playing at home against Rutgers:
MT: I think I've been ignoring it at this point and trying not to think about it because that's when the emotions set in and it becomes real. So until that game it's kind of out of my mind.
Â
On Senior leadership:
MT: I think our leadership came from a lot of different people in a lot of different ways. It's on the field but we also have different people off the field that contribute so I think just everyone doing their part and there's not just one set person makes a big difference and helps united our team more.
Â
Senior defender Holly Heckendorf
On senior day:
HH: It feels great to win, it's been really nice how everyone worked hard for each other and we had a great celebration before the game and to win brings it all home and shows how much we care about each other and we are a team.
Â
On senior leadership:
HH: It's very important to have senior leadership, all seniors really played today and it helps the freshmen gain more experience and helps the juniors get ready for next year to be seniors.
Â
On the day overall:
HH: It was definitely more emotional being Senior Day. We did a lot of celebration in the locker room before which kind of got the emotions out but I think overall, a game is a game and you have to come out and compete and be ready to go.Â
