Coach Mark Johnson
Opening Statement
"I thought we played really well today and didn't give them many opportunities. We ended up getting an extra point because of the shootout victory. Like I told the team, they played well, they played hard, but sometimes the goaltender for the other team is the number one star."
Takeaways from the weekend going into Clarkson
"It's been an emotional week and its certainly a short turnaround. We don't usually play at one o'clock, usually something more like three or four. I thought we were getting a little tired at some points in the game but the kids played hard. From the time we got the goal, in those last eight minutes, I thought we were really good. In second and third period we played really strong and didn't really give them much but weren't able to capitalize on some of the opportunities that we had. But overall, its early in the season and proud of the team's effort."
On Abby Roque
"If you watched the third period, she was probably our best player overall. She was on a mission like, I want to score the goal, I want to help the team, I want to tie the game up. She played that way the whole third period. There are some players that don't want to take a shootout but we do shootouts in practice and some nights you pick the right players and sometimes you don't. Tonight we picked the right one. For a young freshman to do that, she'll continue to grow and she has a great future ahead of her."
 On Ann-Renee Desbiens aggressive play
"It's a huge asset for a lot of reasons. When an opposition dumps the puck in, she can act like a third defenseman to generate some offensive pressure. She's comfortable but sometimes we have to make sure she's moving the puck. People get nervous because there's no goalie in the net and the pucks flying around. It's a good weapon to have. She does really well with it. We work on these things in practice and it makes it really hard for opposing teams to generate offense when you have someone like her back there moving the puck.Â
Things to improve upon for next week
"We'll get everybody back. Sophia (Shaver) will get back tomorrow night and we'll try to get back to somewhat normal. We'll try to build on that. The next couple weekends are going to be challenging. Having played today and having been challenged today, those things help you out. We'll get back at it Monday. Hopefully we get back to some normalcy."
Sam Cogan
On her goal:
"I was just excited. It was like, 'okay, we can come back here and we could win this game. I was just thrilled."
On how the series prepared the team for the coming weekends:
"Ohio State is a really big, physical team. They know how to use their bodies really well so I think that's going to help in the long run. Also our freshmen getting used to playing in LaBahn in front of a huge crowd. I think that helped us prepare for further games."
On this weekend's takeaway:
"Biggest takeaway is that everybody is going to come and give us their hardest game no matter what. Even if we're getting a bunch of shots and not goals, we have to keep going. It's not about quantity, it's about quality as well. We need quality shots on net. That's what is going to get us goals."
On whether or not the team was frustrated with the offensive play:
"Kass Sauve, their goalie, played extremely well and there's not much you can do about that when a goalie is on point. You just got to keep giving it your all. I wouldn't say we were frustrated. We tried to stay calm and just know that we know how to score a goal."
On Abby Roque:
"It was an awesome goal. I know that's always nerve-wracking taking a shootout for the team, but she came in clutch and she got the goal. I was really proud of her."
