Postgame Quotes vs. Rutgers

Head coach Paula Wilkins and Rose Lavelle met with media

Senior midfielder Rose Lavelle

On her first and second goals:
"On the first goal, Micaela (Powers) had a free kick and she's always so good at those services, and we had to take our chances so I got in the box, someone had a really awesome flick, and I was pretty wide open. I would've felt awful if I'd missed that."

On what this win says about the team:
"I think it really shows our resiliency. These final six games that we've played, we've been putting it out there and really working hard and I think it's just very indicative of the whole final stretch of our season that we've been fighting the whole game, and I think that's what you saw in the second half."

On how to prepare for the Big Ten tournament:
"We keep fighting. We know that each game could be our last, so we have to bring that mentality every game and that fight every game. So we're going to put all of our energy and focus into Sunday and be ready for it."

On if she has any last words to Wisconsin after her final career regular season game:
"It's been an honor to play for this team and wear this jersey and represent Wisconsin. I couldn't have picked a better school four years ago. I'm sad to leave but thank you for everything you've done for me, Wisconsin."

Head Coach Paula Wilkins

On what changes had to be made after the first half to spark the offensive power:
"You know, we talked about it at halftime, we thought we were creating some stuff in the first half but we just weren't executing well enough. So we talked about executing a little bit more. In the second half when we were down, we pushed Rose a little bit higher and she did what really good players do and took over the game."

On Rose's big performance at home:
"I'm really happy for her. We've asked her to play a different role for us, she's done a great job of it, but they always say big players do big things in big games and obviously that's what she did for us today."

On entering Big Ten tournament play:
"I think it's a whole new season. We basically clear the slate on everything and it's one game, go home, so I believe that it's a great mindset. This team has done really well, we're unbeaten in the last seven games, and they've just changed themselves since Indiana and I like them going in this direction for sure."
