Good morning Badger Fans!Â
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone for the support this past week. Our team is grateful to have such incredible fans. I appreciate the love received and spread throughout the community after reading my last blog. We're happy to have Soph back with us this weekend, and I know she is excited too!
Last weekend the Cardinal and White defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 3-0 in Friday and tied OSU 1-1 on Saturday before earning a 1-0 win in the shootout. Â
Junior
Emily Clark carried the team in Friday night's game with two snipes, electrifying a sell-out crowd. Assistant captain
Jenny Ryan put another in the board as she dangled the Ohio State goalie Kassidy Sauve, sealing the Badger victory.Â
I would like to give a special shoutout to our brick wall of a goaltender, Ann-Renee Desbiens, for earning her 40th career shutout, more than any other goalie in Badger history. Of course, she humbly thanked the team for her milestone, thanking us for always blocking her shots and helping her keep the puck out of the zone.Â
Way to go, Ann!
Saturday's game presented some challenges as the Badgers found it difficult to put pucks in the net. We found ourselves fighting from behind until freshman
Sam Cogan buried a rebound goal late in the third.Â
"All that was going through my head was 'we could come back and win this games, don't give up,'" she recalls.Â
Filthy hands by freshman
Abby Roque in the shootout gave us the extra point.Â
Seriously, she has some moves. If you haven't seen the goal, it's worth looking up. Good work, liney.Â
Now, it's finally GAMEDAY again!Â
Thursday the Badgers arrived in the beautiful Potsdam, New York, to take on Clarkson University in a two-game series.Â
"I was really proud of our team last weekend. Ohio State is a good team and tested us," Clark shared. "We have a tough couple weekends coming up and I think as a team moving forward we just have to look to get better every practice and game."Â
The Badgers take on the Golden Knights today and Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT). We hope to see you there, and if not, follow us online at uwbadgers.com!Â
On, Wisconsin!
