MADISON, Wis. -- There is an exciting new way for fans to stay up to date on the Wisconsin Badgers. UW debuted the updated Badger Gameday App over the weekend, just in time for the volleyball team's season opener. The updated app includes a dynamic new display that makes getting news and updates easier. In addition, the app allows for in-venue video replay and iBeacon technology that allows for personalized use of the app.
If you are one of the thousands of fans who already has downloaded the Badger Gameday App, simply visit the App Store or Google Play and accept the update. If you need to download the app, you can do so here: App Store / Google Play.
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department has partnered with YinzCam, Inc., the leading developer of mobile interactive in-game sports technology applications, and Gimbal, Inc., the leader in location and proximity-based mobile engagement, to deliver cutting-edge interactive game day experiences not only at home venues, including Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center, but also on the road beginning with the football season opener in Arlington, Texas, the AdvoCare Classic on Sept. 5.

YinzCam, Inc., the developer of the official Badger Gameday App, will provide a number of features (stats, roster, schedule, breaking news, etc.), along with first-of-its-kind mobile experiences in the college game day space. As a first, the Badger Gameday App will provide video of different camera angles for multiple sports and multiple venues, from both Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center. As a first for YinzCam in the college mobile space, the Badger Gameday App uses Gimbal proximity beacons with Apple's iBeacon technology and Gimbal geofences to push highly relevant location-based notifications to  fans via their mobile devices. At this year's season opener in Arlington, Badgers fans will be welcomed to Texas with engaging mobile content.
"We are excited to partner with YinzCam and Gimbal to debut so many innovations in the college game day mobile experience," said Justin Doherty, Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Relations at the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department. "Fans will be able to remain connected to their Wisconsin Badgers through our Game Day App, and with the rich range of features for content and convenience, the Badgers fan will be able to enjoy a unique experience inside and outside our venues, both for home and away games."
At Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center, Gimbal and YinzCam have worked together to implement proximity beacon technology to give fans a comprehensive, mobile location-aware experience. Fans who elect to opt-in to receive push notifications via the Badgers app will receive notifications that are tailored specifically to their physical location, activities, time and personal interests while inside Camp Randall and the Kohl Center for Badgers games.
"We want to create the very best fan experience for Badgers fans, whether on the road during the football season, or while attending games at home on campus," said Ben Fraser, Director of External Engagement at Wisconsin. "By giving fans the option to receive push notifications through the Badger Gameday App, they can enjoy a personalized, interactive experience."
"We are excited to work with the University of Wisconsin to personalize the fan experience like never before," said Kevin Hunter, chief operating officer of Gimbal, Inc. "We know how passionate Badgers fans are and Gimbal provides the very latest in mobile context awareness and proximity technology to allow the University of Wisconsin to deliver an experience that is second to none for its fans."
"The University of Wisconsin is dedicated to delivering a first-class fan experience and is pushing the envelope in terms of innovating the college game day experience," said Priya Narasimhan, CEO & Founder, YinzCam, Inc. "Fans with the Badger Gameday app will be able to stay connected with real-time stats, scores, news, alerts from the Badgers wherever they are, and will be able to take advantage of proximity technology at various locations. We are simply proud that the University of Wisconsin chose to work with us."
