Wisconsin Head Coach Bobbie Kelsey

Opening Statement:
"Obviously we're disappointed in the outcome of the game. They hit some shots that we didn't, we were right in their face and other times we were not where we were supposed to be so that was very disappointing. Rebounding-wise we didn't do a very good job there. We did get to the free-throw line but you have to knock them down. We only missed a good seven there but we just have to shoot a better percentage. You can't make 17 out of 47 shots, that's not good enough, so people need to get into the gym. We did protect the ball, I was happy about that but only scored eight points off of our turnovers. We need more production off of our bench and we need our starters to really come out and give us a good start to the game and make sure that we're playing the defense that we know we can."

On defending UWGB in the first quarter:
"A lot of times we weren't, and they were right underneath the basket. There was miscommunication on switches and we worked on that for two days and then we just didn't have it and we had to go back to some other stuff that we could fall back on but the plan was to switch on some things and we just got confused and that hurt us because they had wide-open layups underneath the basket."

On what UWGB did to stifle the offense:
"I'm not sure what they did to stifle us, we're just holding the ball too long and sticking it in peoples hands. Either dribbling too much, make the extra pass, get it off, go side-to-side and stay on one side the whole entire possession and you're not going to get any continuity if you don't reverse the basketball. When we did we got some shots and people were driving and making some nice plays but that's the disappointing part because we go through our offense and we know what we're supposed to be doing and we're not executing quite like we need to be."

On the biggest challenge UWGB presented defensively:
"They all contribute. We should have been able to defend them. It's not necessarily what they did, it's more on our end. We didn't step up to the challenge and do what we needed to do, myself included."

Dakota Whyte

On her shooting struggles:
"I think that's just on me, my focus and just being able to go up strong and finish it. I don't usually have trouble with that. I guess it was just an off day but Ill get in the gym and continue to shoot."

UW-Green Bay Head Coach Kevin Borseth
Opening Statement:
"Hard-fought game. Our kids came and played really hard today and they needed to because Wisconsin brought their game too. Our kids did a good job."

On the team's shooting accuracy in the first quarter:
"There were a lot of points scored by both teams, weren't there? I think both teams were on fire and I looked at that scoreboard and said 'neither one of us really scores that many points in a quarter.' When I looked at that scoreboard I was amazed by it too. I think there was a lot of energy and adrenaline to start that game on both team's sides."

On facing Wisconsin as the coach of Green Bay versus being the coach of Michigan:
"It's a game for each one of us where we have to prepare obviously. For us, it's a great opportunity to play a great program in the state and I think that says a lot for basketball in Wisconsin, I think we've got some really good teams here. It's a thrill for us to be able to come here and play."

On the team's defensive performance in the first half:
"We fouled a lot, they had 16 free throws in the first half and we didn't do a very good job really of keeping them off the free throw stripe, but there were a lot of mismatches. They had a lot of ball-screen scenarios that put us at some mismatches and then we wound up falling off of those things. We were a little bit too aggressive but I thought they did a very good job of covering in that first quarter and they ended up coming after us. We were all sitting on the bench thinking about pulling the redshirt kids and throwing them in there because we were almost all in foul trouble but that was the only way we were able to slow the game down at least a little bit, we fouled them quite a bit. Not by design either, we were trying to keep them away from the rim as much as we could but to their credit they just kept coming at us."

On the team's 3-point shooting:
"We've got a lot of our kids that have the ability to spread the floor a little bit. We're trying to get better down around the basket and I think that's an area that we're really focusing on right now. We haven't done a very good job on it to this point, but we have to be better at it. I don't think you're going to live and die with the three, I don't think that's a very good formula. I think we need to get better around that basket and we knew that so one of the last practices we had we worked on stuff down and around the basket with our kids and I don't think we've really given that enough attention. Obviously the 3-pointer is good to have, but you've got to be able to make some close buckets too so we're working on that. "

On the biggest challenge Wisconsin presented:
"Dakota Whyte is quick to get to the hole and we knew we had to keep her away from the rim as best we could. Of course Nicole [Bauman] is also just a really good player, she can hit you off the dribble and she can hit it from the arc. And, of course, the two big kids down inside. One passes to the other and they're very talented and they're very athletic. We felt that rebounding was going to be a very big key and I think for the most part we did a pretty good job. We held them to six offensive rebounds and we thought that was a really critical piece for us. Even though we didn't do a great job of defending down there, we kept them off the glass and I thought that was big."
