Looking at the hardwood history of Wisconsin vs. Marquette

MADISON, Wis. -- The Dec. 9 edition of Varsity Magazine is available, featuring an in-depth preview of the Wisconsin-Marquette men's basketball game at the Kohl Center on Saturday as well as some insight into the Badgers' Holiday Bowl pairing with USC.

The Badgers and Golden Eagles have squared off 121 times, making it UW's most-played non-conference rivalry. With just about 80 miles separating the two campuses and a number of players on both teams having played with and against each other in high school, emotions tend to run high. UWBadgers.com Senior Writer Mike Lucas looks at some of the rivalries best moments and explores the current Wisconsin-Marquette connections.

The volleyball team is making its third-straight appearance in the Sweet 16, riding the wave of a 14-match winning streak. Early in the season, things were not quite as sooth and UWBadgers.com Insider Andy Baggot explores how those early trials helped to build an NCAA title contender.

The 'Varsity' Magazine mobile app is free and available for download on iPhones, iPads or any Android devices. If you don't have access to a mobile device, a web-friendly version of the magazine can be found here.

The mobile app has been downloaded more than 25,000 times. It features enhancements like embedded video, social media streams for the different Badgers teams, top-notch photography and interactive elements like scrolling text and swipeable photo galleries.

With the football team preparing to face USC in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 30, the upperclassmen reflect on what got them to this point and shift their focus to ensuring the Badgers' winning tradition continues. That includes mentoring the younger players, especially during these all-important Bowl practices. Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez also chimes in with his thoughts on travelling west a playing a "big-time" opponent while also shedding light on the College Football Playoff selection process.
