Carlini, Nelson earn All-Big Ten honors

Carlini named Setter of the Year; Williams named to All-Freshman Team
MADISON, Wis. – Four members of the Wisconsin volleyball team were honored as part of the 2015 All-Big Ten Conference team. Juniors Lauren Carlini and Haleigh Nelson were first-team selections, with Carlini being one of seven unanimous selections. Carlini was also named the Big Ten Setter of the Year for the second season in a row. Senior Taylor Morey earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors while Tionna Williams was a unanimous pick to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

Carlini earns her third straight All-Big Ten honor, becoming just the fourth Badger to earn three awards. Nelson is a first time honoree while Williams is the 17th rookie named to the All-Freshman team since the award was begun in 1999. Two first-team honorees also marks the 13th time in program history that Wisconsin has had multiple first-team picks.

Carlini led the Big Ten with 11.91 assists per set and was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week four times this season. The 6-1 setter had a team-high 13 double-doubles this season, adding double-figure digs in 13 matches and ranking second on the team with 2.75 digs per set. The Aurora, Illinois, native also ranks third on the Badger squad with 0.82 blocks per set.

Carlini repeats as the Big Ten Setter of the Year, joining Penn State's Micha Hancock as a repeat winner since the award was begun in 2012.

Nelson, a 6-4 middle blocker, led the Big Ten in conference-only matches with a .432 hitting percentage. She also ranked sixth in the league with 1.26 blocks per set. In all matches, Nelson leads the Badgers at .422 percent while putting away 2.65 kills per set for third on the team. The Cary, North Carolina, native also leads the Badgers with 28 service aces and ranks second on the squad with 1.27 blocks per set.

Williams is the top freshman in the Big Ten in hitting percentage (.318) and blocks per set (1.34). The 6-2 middle blocker leads Wisconsin in blocks per set and ranks second in hitting percentage. Williams also adds 2.21 kills per set for fifth on the squad.

Morey, a 5-6 libero, leads the Badgers with 4.51 digs per set. She has recorded double-figure digs in 25 matches this season, including eight matches with 20-or-more saves. The Muncie, Indiana, native also ranks second on the team with 19 service aces. Morey was also named the Badgers' Sportsmanship Award winner.
