Wisconsin vs. Michigan State
November 8, 2015
UW Field House – Madison, Wis.

Head coach Kelly Sheffield
On his opening statement:
"Not a lot of rallying in that match, first of all. That team is really, really physical. You can tell they had a tough time trying to get things going. That helped us out a little bit. It's hard to be able to be on top of your game every single match. I'm sure that they're pretty frustrated over there.

"On our side, I thought we passed great. I thought that was our best passing match of the season. We were really concerned with their serving. We think they're a really good serving team. They didn't really get on any runs, and I think a big part of that was our ball control was really solid. We were able to follow the game plan. We got our outsides involved early in the match and kind of loosened up that block and spread out a little bit. And we got our middles going, especially Tionna [Williams] a little bit later on in the match."

On if dominant performance was due to Wisconsin's sharp play or Michigan's State errors:
"Probably in all fairness, it was probably a combination of the two. You hit .365 and your opponents hit .012. This is a hard league. Even if your opponent is kind of a little bit off their game, we had a good match. I thought we stayed with it throughout. For the most part, we played pretty clean volleyball."

Freshman MB Tionna Williams
On what it did for her to have Lauren Carlini go back to her after two straight hitting errors in first set:
"It just makes me more confident in my abilities because she trusts me to go back to me after I made an error after another error. So it's just really reassuring that she trusts me, and my teammates trust me, too."

On finding rhythm as a team:
"We can't be comfortable where we're at right now. We have to keep pushing every day to get better."

On how team has improved at finishing matches following strong first sets:
"I think we have a stronger sense of urgency right now, and everything is clicking really well. We're just taking care of our side of the net."

Sophomore OH Lauryn Gillis
On what's happened with the winning streak in last few weeks:
"I think Lauren [Carlini] said it perfectly after the game. It was just easy tonight. I think that we're just playing well together and we have confidence in each other. And I think that's a big part of it that we're just playing for one another. We know that everyone's going to show up every night because of that trust. That just makes it so much easier. We're just rolling right now and just getting better every time."

On finding a rhythm as a team:
"I think the comfort is definitely there. It's easy playing with each other, but we're still looking to get better every time. That rhythm is there, it's just bettering that rhythm now."

On how team has improved at finishing matches following strong first sets:
"It's showing that we are getting better at playing well for really long periods of time rather than having our roles of being great and being not so great. It's a sign of our improvement and how we're evolving."
